The development of the Stocznia Gdanska project by Michal Szlaga, a Polish photographer born in 1978 in Gdansk, concerns the legendary location of the shipyards in this city, the cradle of the Solidarity movement.

His nostalgic photographs are a memory and a testimony of the daily course of the neo liberal process. Since the year 2000, Szlaga has been photographing local events, landscapes, workers and the changes that have taken place due to the bankruptcy of the shipyards and the decline of their specific trades. He also bears witness to the gradual destruction of installations and buildings where weeds invade places that once vibrated with intense industrial and political life.
