VITAL

Art / Environment / Citizens’ participation

2022-2024

STRASBOURG – LJUBLJANA – ATHENS – PRISTINA – NEW-YORK

VITAL is a European cooperation project aimed at raising public awareness of the ecological emergency through contemporary artistic creation.

At the heart of the project, four works of art in the public space form an artistic ecosystem and call for public involvement.

As well as raising awareness among artists and the general public, the aim is to create a European dynamic and a network to promote ecological working methods in public spaces, in partnership with local authorities.

Thibault Honoré & Justine Maljak are designing sculptures and a utilitarian drilling system for planting a fruit tree, as well as a series of activities and functions around harvesting and watering. Klitsa Antoniou dreams of rain through an immersive installation recalling the great fire in Cyprus in 2021, while artists Irena Pivka & Brane Zorman invent a listening device linked to biodiversity and the relationship between humans and nature. Finally, Marco Barotti captures fluctuations in atmospheric CO2 using the living plant moss that covers his kinetic installation.
