Born in 1948 in the region of Kirovograd (Ukraine), Yurii Kosin is an artist photographer.
In 1974 he graduated from the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and in 1988 from the Institute of Journalism. In 1992 he became a professor and curator of the Independent Ukrainian Academy of Photography. He is a member of the National Union of Artist Photographers of Ukraine. Since 1994 he is a member of the Union Kulturforum (Germany). In 1998, he founded the Exar photo gallery (Kyiv) and became its curator. He lives and works in Irpin, near Kyiv. In the 1980s, Yurii Kosin developed his own creative method, a particular authorial language of photography, which he called transgression. It is based, on the one hand, on the artist’s vision of the world and, on the other hand, on the appropriate treatment of photographic material. Since 1985 he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Ukraine, Latvia, the United States, Great Britain, Germany and other countries.
