For more than six decades, Strasbourg and Stuttgart, twinned in 1964, have been developing cultural and artistic exchanges that have strengthened their relationship. These initiatives have given rise to a series of creative projects run by the Trafic d’Art association. Each project has strengthened the links between our two towns, exploring common themes linked to our cultural and natural heritage.

With “La ville / Die Stadt”, we’re continuing this dynamic exchange by looking at the evolution of urban space and its impact on contemporary society. Drawing inspiration from the rich history, culture and architecture of Strasbourg and Stuttgart, the 24 artists taking part in this project have created a body of work that draws on the identity and urban environment of these two cities. Whether through painting, sculpture, photography, installation or other artistic forms, the works are an invitation to rethink urban space through the prism of art.

The exhibition, which is open to a wide public, offers a collective reflection on the transformations of urban space and the place of the individual in the city. The works of art, highlighting the specific features of each city, will serve as meeting points for the different artists’ visions, offering a multiplicity of approaches to understanding the city.

We hope that this project, at the crossroads of art, urban planning and collective reflection, will continue to enrich the dialogue between our two cities and inspire everyone to rethink the urban space in which we live.
