Scenographer graduated from the École Supérieure d’Art Dramatique (Théâtre National de Strasbourg) in 1981, he has since worked regularly on theatre productions, exhibitions, television programmes (mainly for ARTE) and events. From 1990, alongside his work as a set designer, he developed a solo career as a visual artist (Paris Biennale, residency at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, numerous exhibitions in France and abroad). In 2000, together with Jean-Christophe Lanquetin, he founded the ScU2 collective, which has since developed the Scénographies Urbaines project in association with other artists’ collectives around the world, organising artists’ encounters in the neighbourhoods of major cities (Douala, Alexandria, Kinshasa, Johannesburg, Paris, Dakar, St Denis-La Réunion, etc.). In 1994 he joined the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg (became the HEAR, Haute École des arts du Rhin, in 2010) to set up the scenography workshop with Jean-Christophe Lanquetin. From 2004 to 2010 he played an active part in creating and structuring the partnership between the HEAR and the Kinshasa Academy of Fine Arts (workshop, coordination, exhibition, etc.), and since 2010 has been working with Jean-Christophe Lanquetin on the Play>Urban research project.
